Hey, great read as always. Your analysis of 'hesuchia' in its historical context is trully sharp, and it's so important to disect these passages. It makes me wonder how challenging it must have been for women then, and what the long-term impact of such interpretations on women's autonomy has been, even today.

Thank you. Something that I may have included in my previous posts (if not, I will soon) is the reality that the culture is ultimately shaped by the way those in power choose to shape it. Since the first century, the principles of the Kingdom of God are brought into an existing culture and they are incorporated to the extent the culture-shapers allow them. Therefore, a culture that already places men in the dominate position over women may end up only modifying their structure instead of conforming it to the actual biblical roles revealed in Scripture. When reformed and other evangelical pastors read this passage in 1 Timothy, they rest more upon the literal reading instead of seriously considering the literary and cultural aspects of the day in which Paul wrote these words.
